A stay at a five-star hotel isn't just about where you sleep. It's about the experience you take home with you. It's about the details you might not even consciously notice, but which make your stay truly special.

At Hotel Lomnica, we treat every guest as an individual—but we also know that managing expectations properly is key to satisfaction. That’s why, even before your arrival, we’d like to explain how things work here, what to expect, and why we’ve chosen this particular approach for certain decisions.

A place where time stands still

Hotel Lomnica is a place to be savored. Perhaps that is why guests have come to love spending time in our café—with select Mozart coffee, homemade desserts, and the peaceful atmosphere of the historic surroundings. The works of Dominik Skutecký that adorn the interior are not merely decoration. They contribute to a sense of elegance that cannot be replicated.

Mozart Café is open every day from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM – feel free to make a visit to the café part of your daily routine.

The hotel as a "living gallery"

What makes Hotel Lomnica truly unique is not just its history or its services. It is the art that is an integral part of it.

Today , the hotel functions as a "living gallery," where you don't just see art—you experience and feel it. It isn't confined to a single room. It's all around you.

The Lomnica Gallery doesn’t limit its space to just the exhibition halls. Artworks adorn the walls of the hallways and common areas, and you’ll even find them right in the guest rooms, which is why the hotel is rightly described as “a gallery you can stay in.”

The collection features more than 500 works that trace the development of art from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries through to the modern era. Artists represented include Dominik Skutecký, Ladislav Medňanský, Mária Medvecká, and Miloš Alexander Bazovský.

Interestingly, art is not separate from your experience—quite the opposite:

  • While enjoying a cup of coffee at Café Mozart, you can admire the works of Dominik Skutecký
  • At Sissi Restaurant, you are surrounded by paintings by Ladislav Medňanský
  • The gallery continues into the hallways and rooms

Every step you take through the hotel naturally becomes a cultural experience.

Sissi Restaurant: the cuisine of a 5-star hotel in the Tatra Mountains

It is no coincidence that Hotel Lomnica was named Gourmet Hotel of the Year 2026 by the prestigious international guide Gault&Millau. Our Sissi Restaurant ranks among the best in Slovakia, as evidenced by its awards: 4 forks in the Falstaff rating and 3 toques from Gault&Millau.

For you, this means one thing: food here isn’t just “part of the stay.” It’s an integral part of it—and often one of the most memorable experiences.

An international team as part of our 5-star quality

During your stay, you may notice that our team includes colleagues from abroad, including the Philippines. In today’s hospitality industry, this is a standard practice that allows us to draw on experiences from different countries while providing a level of service that international guests have come to expect.

Our staff members are carefully selected and trained, and many of them have experience working at prestigious hotels around the world. Their approach is based on respect, professionalism, and a natural willingness to help.

Although they are gradually learning Slovak, communication takes place mainly in English. However, we believe that a smile, a willingness to help, and quality service are universal.

Small details that serve a purpose

Some things may seem like minor details at first glance—but each one has its own reason for being there.

For breakfast, for example, we decided to make a small change. Selected dishes such as omelets, eggs Benedict, and avocado toast are subject to a 5-euro charge. The reason for this is our commitment to sustainability.

In the original live cooking setup, more food was often prepared than was actually consumed. By introducing this symbolic amount, we’ve managed to significantly reduce waste—while also improving the overall atmosphere in the restaurant, which is calmer today.

The same applies to parking. Outdoor parking costs 5 euros per night, and garage parking costs 30 euros. This is primarily to ensure your safety and comfort. However, if you prefer another option, parking is also available in the wider area around the hotel.

A 5% service charge is also added to the total bill, reflecting the level of service, care, and staffing provided throughout your stay.
